Testa Catanoso Foundation

Joe Testa

Joe was born and raised in southern New Jersey. He worked in his family’s business until attending Susquehanna University where he graduated with a degree in Accounting and Finance. Joe spent over 20 years working in the corporate sector in capacities in finance and executive management. 

In 1999 Joe co-founded Strategic Planning and Management, LLC which developed RealTimeRental.com , a leading vacation rental software provider to real estate and property management companies around the United States. Joe is still involved in the day to day operations of RealTimeRental as well as RentalRetreat.com and Tap Tag Technologies LLC. 

Through his years at RealTimeRental Joe realized the importance of technology and how important it is to provide all students the technology needed to complete their education. Joe is passionate about providing access to technology for students with limited financial means. Joe resides in Palm Beach Gardens, FL with his wife Marlene. 

Marlene Catanoso

Marlene was born and raised in Wildwood, NJ. She worked in the family businesses for over 55 years alongside her three brothers Lenny Jr, Alan, and Justin. In 2006 Marlene and her brother Lenny took control of one of the family businesses, Avalon Campground. She and Lenny are still active in the day to day operations of Avalon Campground.

Through her experience over the years, Marlene has identified social needs that she has become quite passionate about. Such as; making sure all children have an equal opportunity for a full education and educating the youth on the importance of our environment through the use of new technology. Marlene resides in Palm Beach Gardens, FL with her husband Joe. 

Justin Catanoso

Justin Catanoso is a North Carolina-based journalist, Wake Forest University educator, and Pulitzer Center grantee with more than 30 years of experience covering climate change, health care, science, economic development and business. He is the winner of the Science-in-Society Award and N.C. Press Association award for public service for his coverage of fraud in the tobacco industry in the early 1990s. Since 2015, he has been a regular contributor to Mongabay, an international environmental news organization, for which he covers climate change and climate policy. After 13 years as founding executive editor of The Business Journal in Greensboro, N.C., Catanoso is now Professor of Journalism at Wake Forest University in Winston-Salem, N.C. He directed the program from 2011-2016. Wake Forest joined the Campus Consortium in 2012. 

Leonard "Lenny" Catanoso

Lenny Catanoso is the owner of Garden Greenhouse and Nursery and The Woodland Village in Clermont, NJ. Lenny is also co-owner of The Avalon Campground with Marlene, his sister, where he helps to oversee day to day operations. These businesses have been in their family for over 60 years, and are continuing with his children and grandchildren.

Lenny was born and raised in North Wildwood, NJ. He attended Penn State University, as did his father and son, where he graduated with a degree in Health and Physical Education.

Lenny’s love of family and nature has led him to realize the importance of preserving our environment and educating the youth of today.
